Location: Virginia, USA
Mount Vernon, located on the banks of the Potomac River in Virginia, was the beloved plantation home of George Washington, the first President of the United States. Originally inherited from his half-brother Lawrence, Washington expanded the estate into a grand mansion and working plantation spanning thousands of acres. Beyond being his residence, Mount Vernon was the center of Washington’s agricultural experiments and innovations. After his presidency, Washington retired there, managing his land and enslaved labor force until his death in 1799. Today, Mount Vernon is preserved as a historic site and museum, symbolizing Washington’s leadership, personal life, and enduring legacy in American history.
