Mount Rushmore National Monument

Location: South Dakota

Mount Rushmore was carved from October 4, 1927, to October 31, 1941. The primary sculptor was Gutzon Borglum, and after his death in March 1941, his son Lincoln Borglum took over. The monument features the faces of four U.S. presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Each president's head on Mt. Rushmore is about 60 feet tall.
