Kitty Hawk

Kitty Hawk is part of the Outer Banks, a chain of barrier islands known for their pristine beaches, maritime forests, and unique coastal culture. The Wright brothers conducted their flight experiments from 1900 to 1903 in Kitty Hawk, refining their designs and testing their aircraft prototypes. On December 17, 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright achieved the first controlled, sustained, powered flight in a heavier-than-air aircraft at Kill Devil Hills, just south of Kitty Hawk.

Today, Kitty Hawk is a popular tourist destination, offering beautiful beaches, outdoor recreational activities such as surfing and kiteboarding, and attractions related to aviation history.
