The neighborhood of Braddock is situated along the Monogahela River, approximately 9 miles southeast of downtown Pittsburgh. It is historically significant as it played a major role in the early steel industry of the United States. Andrew Carnegie built the Edgar Thomson Steel Works in Braddock in 1875, which is considered one of the first steel mills in the country.
